Zurich, 12.01.2017. As part of the strategic development of the Swiss Start Up Factory, the Accelerator has set up an Advisory Board and could recruit various high-profile personalities.
The Swiss Startup Factory (SSUF) looks back on two successful years during which it has positioned itself as an independent and privately financed Startup Accelerator in Switzerland. After more than 1’500 start-up applications in 2016 alone, they completed two outstanding Accelerator batches, aided by the expertise of more than 50 mentors. Through the co-founding of ten young Swiss companies and the strategic partnerships with companies such as Helvetia, Goldbach Group, AMAG and Red Bull Media House the Swiss Startup Factory is now ideally positioned to proceed to a next development phase.
The Advisory Board of the Swiss Startup Factory actively supports the Accelerator in strategic topics and will open doors to key stakeholders. Throughout the year, the Advisory Board will be further strengthened by additional members.

Prof. Dr. Rico Baldegger
As a professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the School of Management Fribourg, Rico J. Baldegger acts as academic coordinator of the Master in Entrepreneurship. He graduated from the University of St. Gallen and obtained his doctorate from the University of Fribourg. He is the author of numerous publications on entrepreneurship, internationalization of SMEs and the reorganization of family businesses. Moreover, he is a serial entrepreneur, as is demonstrated by the many companies he created.
Dr. Robert Bider
Robert Bider is President of the Board of Directors of SENIOcare AG, and a member of Montana Capital Partners AG’s Board of Directors. He is also co-founder of Rhino Partners, a direct private equity investments firm focusing on small and mid cap buyouts in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. Prior to that, Robert was CEO of Hirslanden Group for 17 years, being instrumental in growing the company from one hospital to one of Europe’s largest and most successful private hospital chains.
Jean-Claude Biver is the President of the Watches Division at LVMH Group, the CEO of TAG Heuer, Interim CEO of Zenith, and Chairman of the Board of Hublot. Biver has been extremely successful at Hublot, and was previously successful in rejuvenating the Blancpain and Omega brands, both currently owned by Swatch Group. Biver’s leadership in the Swiss watch industry paired with his outstanding personality is indisputable.
Beat Curti is the founder, majority shareholder, and vice chairman of Goldbach Group, as well as vice-chairman and active partner of SoftwareOne. As an entrepreneur by heart, driven by the desire to create, he looks back on a fascinating career. Having created some of the best-known media and retail companies in Switzerland, he is still firmly engaged in the business world, focusing on new media and technologies.
Peter Friedli has been a principal of the investment banking firm Friedli Corporate Finance, Inc. since 1986. He has over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience as an independent investment manager in venture capital and has specialized in high-tech investments predominantly in the areas of biotechnology and technology. He has held interests in more than 170 venture companies ranging from start-up to pre-IPO. He is Chairman of the Board and major shareholder of Osiris Therapeutics, as well as President and Investment Manager of New Venturetec. Prior thereto, he worked in the field of international management consulting for service and industrial companies in Europe and the United States.
Andreas Gall is the Chief Technology Officer at Red Bull Media House and the CEO of SAE, Austria’s first private sound engineering school. He has a strong background as a professional radio and television engineer, and sound engineer and has developed a diversified know-how in the field of technology and media. After being Founder and CEO of Mondocom GmbH, which operates the technical premises of Austrian national radio OE3, he worked as CTO for Austrian national broadcaster ORF.
Daniel Gutenberg, super angel investor, venture capitalist and unicorn hunter in the investment industry. Invested in more than 100 startup companies during the last 20 years and serving as board member for various companies. He has received numerous awards and was elected business angel of the year 2011. Daniel Gutenberg started his career as CEO of Gutenberg Communication Systems AG, a company he founded in 1991. After selling his company in the year 2000, he became an active business angel. Daniel joined VI Partners in 2003 as a General Partner focusing on IT.
Michael Hartweg is an entrepreneur and investor, with over 15 years’ experience in investments and financial services and the owner of MICA Ventures AG. As a Founding Partner of Leonteq Securities, Michael was responsible for the build-out and development of one of Europe’s most successful FinTech companies, which has been listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange since October 2012. Prior to founding Leonteq, Michael held senior positions in trading and structuring at Goldman Sachs and Commerzbank.
Urs Wietlisbach co-founded Partners Group in 1996. He is a member of Partners Group Holding AG’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Markets Committee, based in Zug. He has 28 years of industry experience. Prior to founding Partners Group, he worked at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Credit Suisse. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland.

Company Profile of the Swiss Start Up Factory
The Swiss Startup Factory is an independent accelerator, whose goal is to build sustainably successful start-ups in the ICT sector. Within the framework of a three-month program, talented young entrepreneurs are prepared for the founding of their businesses, while having to complete three milestones. Each year, up to 10 startup teams start the Accelerator program in February and September.
Apart from financial and technical support, the start-ups also have access to a unique network. The Swiss Startup Factory was founded in 2014, the factory’s co-working space is located in Zurich-Wipkingen.
